  2.                  "So Ya Wanna Do RIP Graphics With MebbsNet?!?"

  5. Pretty simple, actually.  First, you'll need a RIP graphics creation program.
  6. There are Amiga versions out there, but they're crippled.  I use TombArt for
  7. the IBM to do mine.
  8.  
  9. You simply draw up your menus, then create MOUSE REGIONS around the commands
  10. that you want your users to be able to mouse-click on.  As you create the
  11. mouse regions, assign them host commands corresponding to the menu selections
  12. (for example, F on our main menu takes you to a file areas list.  The mouse
  13. region surrounding the "File Areas Menu" on the menu is assigned the host
  14. command "F".  That way, if they click on it, it sends an F to the BBS.)
  15. Once you've created your menu, save it with a .GRx extension (I use .GR3
  16. here for RIP menus).  You'll need to have your users select that if they want
  17. to be able to see your artwork (Adjust Parameters, Graphics Mode).

  19. I've included some samples in this archive.  One very special one is the
  20. WELCOME.TXT replacement.  If you have a WELCOME.TXT (who doesn't?), rename
  21. it to WELCOME.TEXT (notice the extra E in the suffix).  Then copy the supplied
  22. WELCOME.TXT to your text directory.  Also copy the WELCOME.RIP file there.
  23. Also copy the WELCOME.REXX to your MEBBSNET:REXX/ directory.

  25. I am by NO stretch of the imagination an ARTIST.  My menus are serviceable
  26. and are only to show an example of what CAN be done.  Note that if you use
  27. mouse regions, and do NOT use ICONS, your users don't have to have anything
  28. except a RIP capable terminal program.  If you DO decide to use icons, note
  29. that your users will have to download them from you and install them in their
  30. terminal programs.  While the icons can add a bit of flair, I personally do
  31. not think that they are worth the extra hassle required.  If you change your
  32. menus for any reason, you'd most likely have to issue a new set of icons.
